The procedures for implementing the waiving of the oath for aliens with certain disabilities outlines significant strides to accommodate immigrants with disabilities who come to the United States. Migrants coming into the country have immense baggage already oftentimes leaving their families back home coming with little to no money and overall very little knowledge on how to navigate their new homes. The hardships of being an immigrant in the United States is minimized as it is but being an immigrant with a disability poses intersectional hardships that are especially overlooked. I agree with waiving the oath for immigrants with certain disabilities due to the fact that it will provide for an easier smoother process for immigrants with disabilities and will take away one of the many obstacles when becoming a citizen. Despite not explicitly mentioning technology tech and internet resources could be an additional factor to help alleviate the process for immigrants with disabilities. For instance in Matthew Bogenschutzrsquos piece ldquoWe Find a Way: Challenges and Facilitators for Healthcare Access Among Immigrants and Refugees with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilitiesrdquo the hardships of immigrants with disabilities is outlined in which they experience significant difficulties when finding accurate information and resources. Specifically it is imperative that immigrants with disabilities are able to access doctors and other specialists and professionals who can help them with their needs when they arrive in the United States Bogenschutz 2014. Not only does the fact that these immigrants are not familiar with the language and culture of the US but their disability also poses additional challenges to finding resources to help them along their journey Bogenschutz 2014. According to Bogenschutzrsquos study the majority of disabled immigrants he interviewed could not find accessible and reliable healthcare services that were adequately informed about their experiences as an immigrant and disabled person Bogenschutz 2014. Today I donrsquot think there are many online resources which address the needs of immigrants who are disabled which I think would be incredibly beneficial to be implemented. I think the implementation of these processes begins with accompaniment a term used to describe accompanying and assisting immigrants in their new lives in the US. In the piece ldquoAccompaniment in a Mexican Immigrant Community: Conceptualization and Identification of Biophysical Outcomesrdquo the term accompaniment is outlined in which references people or organizations helping immigrants in various steps in their immigration journey. Accompaniment involves all aspects in the processes of immigration whether that be assisting with filling out documents or going with an immigrant to a doctorrsquos appointment Villarreal et al. 2018. Accompaniment provides many benefits to immigrants throughout their immigration journey one important one being a personable and trustworthy source for immigrants Villarreal et al. 2018. Every immigrant struggles when they arrive in a new country but looking especially at immigrants with disabilities accompaniment is especially important when navigating a new landscape due to the unfamiliarities with the added factor of the challenges that come along with being disabled. Using digital technology and the internet as resources within accompaniment to further assist immigrants with disabilities will only help immigrants with disabilities during their immigration journey. Firstly there must be better internet resources to adequately address the needs of immigrants with disabilities and then another individual can adequately help an immigrant who is disabled.
