It is a duty, in my opinion, to care for the most vulnerable citizens of our communities. Many of us take for granted the most basic skills of a human being such as talking, walking, being able to care for themselves or just being a "typical" person with no disabilities but for many, these basic skills are lacking. Many people suffer from physical, mental, or cognitive disabilities and which produce learning disabilities, behavioral or social disabilities thereby limiting these person's ability to care for themselves. For these individuals' accommodations in every area of their lives is a necessity. I believe that making every possible accommodation for these naturalization applicants that suffer from disabilities is not only the right thing to do but it is also the moral and ethical thing to do. Many of these individuals are not able to performs basic tasks such as filing out an application or enduring an interview process thus accommodations make a world of a difference for them. By granting them accommodations I am not suggesting that they be extended any privileges or handouts; I am basically saying that by making accommodations for them we are giving them an opportunity to excel and do their best. People with disabilities deserved the opportunity to become citizens just like any other individual who meets the basic criteria in order to apply. I believe that these changes would be extremely beneficial for people with disabilities and therefor I show my support and hope that many others will show their support as well and we make opportunities for persons with disabilities to achieve their dream of becoming and American citizen just like any "typically" developing person.
